the Rowcesters^⁂

Bill's family, whose pride he summons to his aid.

Talked about, but not there

1. Biggar catches Bill and Jeeves from behind and proposes that Bill 'borrow' Mrs Spottsworth's pendant to pawn for a bet on Ballymore, and after telling how he once bought it from a beachcomber in Shanghai and gave it to her, wins Bill's agreement.Chapters 12–13, the living room
2. Jill, gloomy and suspicious, learns Bill is in the garden with Mrs Spottsworth; Captain Biggar praises the spider sequence, and Bill returns to report that the pendant came off but fell down the front of Mrs Spottsworth's dress.Chapters 13–14, the living room
