The Code of the Woosters, chapter 5, Bertie's room at Totleigh, same evening, just before dinner
Jeeves reveals the Junior Ganymede's club book, offers to telephone its Secretary for dirt on Spode, and on his way out mentions that Gussie's engagement to Madeline is off, as the dinner gong sounds.
The text is on its way.
Aside, earlier adventures Bertie learns Jeeves wrote up the time he blacked up to escape old Stoker and the night after Pongo Twistleton’s birthday party when he took a standard lamp for a burglar.
Aside, in the past Bertie had supposed Jeeves went to a pub in his bowler hat of an evening, not to a club in Curzon Street.
